Welcome to my personal website! My name is Laurent Marescot and I am currently working as a Product Manager at Risk Management Solutions (RMS), one of the leading international company in catastrophe modelling for natural-hazard, pandemic and terrorism risks. I am also acting as a Lecturer and an Associate Collaborator at the University of Fribourg (UNIFR).
During the past years, I have been developing research projects in engineering geophysics, with a focus on applying and adapting geoelectric and electromagnetic techniques (especially tomography) to natural-hazard, civil engineering and man-made structure investigations (non-destructive testing, archaeology). I have been a collaborator at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ), the French Public Works Research Laboratory (LCPC) and the University of Lausanne (UNIL).
My current scientific interests are in probabilistic risk assessment (catastrophe modelling) and near surface geophysics (for more details, have a look at my publication list). I am also frequently giving lectures. If you are interested, you will find in these pages some of the teaching material I have developed over the past years.
I frequently update this website, so please check regularly for new material!
